Jon Long Obituary, Victim Of Truck Accident In Tularosa, New Mexico Has Passed Away

Jon Long Obituary, Death – Sadly, on March 18, 2024, a car accident in Tularosa, New Mexico, took the life of 69-year-old Jon C. Long. His parents, Donald G. Sr. and Ruby Ann (Jarman) Long, welcomed him into the world on August 9, 1954, in the Wisconsin hamlet of Sevastopol. In 1972, Jon received his high school certificate from West De Pere High School. Jon lived in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, growing up. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Green Bay with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics.

Before moving to the Naval Reserve, where he spent twelve years, Jon served in the US Navy for five years. He wed Mary Menard on May 20, 1975, at Green Bay, Wisconsin’s Nativity Catholic Church. He developed his handyman abilities and gained a great deal of experience working on the farms owned by his family and friends. Jon worked for Martin Trucking / Southwest Express in Hugoton, Kansas, at the time as a semi-truck driver. He avidly participated in the activities of the First Church of God in Elkhart, Kansas, and had a deep love for the Lord. He also enjoyed writing Bible studies.

Being outside, reading, fishing, playing the guitar, and going camping with his family were some of his favorite activities. Jon has volunteered with the Morton County Emergency Medical Services in Rolla, Kansas, in addition to the Morton County Fire Department in Kansas, where he is currently a volunteer. Jon’s moral integrity and commitment to his family will endure into future generations. Jon is survived by his wife, Mary, of their home; sons, Christopher Long and wife, Elizabeth, of Verona, Wisconsin, and Sergeant First Class David Long and wife, Renne, of San Antonio, Texas; brothers, Donald Long, Jr.

And wife, Mary Ellen, of Appleton, Wisconsin, and Jay Long and wife, Dina Alhadeff of Seattle, Washington; two grandchildren, Liam and Tori; nieces and nephews; and other relatives. The parents of Jon, Donald Sr. and Ruby Ann Long, as well as his sister Valerie Long, died before he was even born. The First Church of God in Elkhart, Kansas will host a memorial service on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 10:00 AM. During the event, military honors will be rendered by the SWKS Veterans Funeral Honor Guard and the Navy Honor Guard.

At the Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart, Kansas, on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the family will be present to welcome friends. There will be live streaming of the military honors presentation and memorial ceremony on the Garnand Funeral Home Facebook page. Donations may be sent to the Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, Kansas 67950, in honor of the deceased. These donations are going to the Morton County Fire Department and the Morton County Emergency Medical Services in Rolla, Kansas.
